Please, please, please choose Plymouth Music Zone they’ve helped thousands of children and young people over the last decade. I know the other charities are doing fantatsic work too and it’s horrible to compete but PMZ really deserves this!

PMZ are just fantastic! Everyday working there is completely different, enormously special and totally inspiring for EVERYONE involved. I simply can’t think of a more deserving establishment .

As a disabled musician PMZ has given me so many opportunities: in the past as a participant, currently a job as a volunteer and always place to call my own. If PMZ won I think it would give adults with disabilities a huge opportunity they may not have had before, PMZ means so much to me my only hope is that others just like me get a chance to get involved.

when I firrst came to PMZ I was welcomed with open arms by a bunch of kind, enthusiastic, non-judgemental people who just love music. I’ve seen the transformative effect that music can have on people, and the confidence playing music can give to people. Please support PMZ, they are a credit to Plymouth!

music zone, works with so many people and changes so many lives for the better, helping people gain independance and skills in a safe and supporting environment, the idea that if they had more funding they could reach out and help even more people, is in my opinion an oppotuhnity NOT to be missed,

i have been attending sessions at music zone for years, what they do here is great, and i would have never discovered my passion for music without them!

I can’t think of a better charity to nominate. PMZ is amazing! Fun, exciting, resourceful, on the ball! They can be trusted to do what they say they will do.

I’ve worked at Plymouth Music Zone for nearly 7 years now so I may well be biased but I see transformations happening every day here and this place regularly brings me to tears for all the right reasons. It’s why I stay. So it would just be so amazing to be able to extend our work more to vulnerable adults giving music workshops to the elderly and the disabled. Every penny would go towards some wonderful work and results and reach up to another 2000 people across the city. We would truly love your support if you think we’re worth it.

As someone heavily involved in music workshop provision in the South West of England, I am more than aware that there is a gap in funding opportunities for adults wishing to participate in musical activities. Particulary those from vulnerable backgrounds/areas and those with learning difficulties. Any agency using funds in this capacity would be providing an invaluable opportunity in this respect.

I’ve worked for Plymouth Music Zone for quite a few years and music really does make a difference to so many people. It would be great to do that for more people who really need it that we don’t have funding for. If you want to help us to make a difference, please support us.

Plymouth Music Zone has a well deserved reputation for quality, fun, passion and transformation. Their success is built on the way they are able to connect and listen to the individuals and partner organisations that they work with daily. They are particularly unique in the way that they can show people a light, and a way for their voice to be heard and valued, where other settings have not succeeded. Yes I do work there but have received glowing feedback from participants as well as witnessing very moving and couragious results from participants.

I’m so blessed to have witnessed and been a part of the difference that Plymouth Music Zone Makes to People’s lives. (Including mine!). Plymouth Music Zone is my second home, as it is to so many people of all ages and circumstances. Music is the tool that we use to make a difference but it is the passion and commitment of all involved that really does make a difference every day. I have seen young people grow in confidence and develop not only musical but life skills that they will keep for a lifetime. I have also seen elderly people with dementia hear a piece of music and remember their mother sang it to them as a child. I could go on forever! Please help us to continue making a difference.

7 years ago i was losing faith with music and Plymouth Music Zone restored it. I am now part of the teaching staff and run a few guitar clubs. In my time i have seen so many people change and really come out of their shells. I feel that to still be a part of PMZ after 7 years, but in a completely different way is amazing. the type of work we do here with disadvantaged children is so rewarding and i feel is massively important. For us to keep making this difference we could really do with your support.

People think PMZ is just about music but it’s not. It’s about changing lives and giving people a chance to feel good about themselves in the midst of everything else that might be difficult. It may not be life and death but it means all the difference to someone who may be isolated or vulnerable in some way. Raising money for music sessions for the elderly is definitely worth supporting and this organisation is the only one that could do it in a way that will make a massive difference to everyone involved.

PMZ are a FANTASTIC organisation that support young people and adults with disabilities or who are vulnerable. They have a genuine regard and respect for the people they work with and need the funding to be able to continue their valuable work

Plymouth Music Zone is a remarkable organisation. It has never deviated from what the staff team do best – which is using the power of music making to support people. It changes lives, builds confidence, opens doors and puts a smile on a lot of faces. As an organisation they are high quality – they run a tight ship, folk want to work with them, staff want to stay for as long as they can – and volunteers are think on the ground! Plymouth is SOOO lucky to have PMZ and we are blessed that is managed by an expert team who want the best for everyone.

Plymouth Music Zone are an awesome organisation that do so much for the music culture in Plymouth and the surrounding area. I work with as part of South West Music School and it is always a pleasure to run projects with them. They are so enthusiastic about what they do and are always striving to improve and do better.

Plymouth Music Zone are so good, they make Plymouth quasi-desirable as a place to live! But seriously, great people, great work- it’d be a massive shame if the tireless effort that is synonymous with the organization wasn’t backed up by the necessary financial support.

What strikes me again and again about Musiczone is the confidence and positive attitude that grows amongst the participants as they engage with the activities. Musiczone has something very valuable here; never easy to replicate and almost impossible to sustain and keep growing as they uniquely manage to do.

Plymouth Music Zone is a place where all sorts of different people can come and display thier talents and at the same time thoroughly enjoy themselves. It offers a wide range of activities and so holds appeal for all. It gave my children a place to come and work with other children and gain friends as well as having lots and lots of fun. A place that is inspiring and well worth coming to.

I was lucky enough to watch a showcase performace from young people who had recieved mentoring at Plymouth Music Zone. The difference it made to those young peoples lives was clearly evident and very moving. A well deserving charity.

Music is a great communicator. PMZ works incredibly hard to ensure that everybody, regardless of ability, background and age, can be a part of that wonderful process.

i think music zone is brilliant my brother and sister love it, it gives them confidence and they have made loads of friends my son loves watching their performances and i hope when hes big enough he can come and join in the fun he is already inspired by the performances and loves to watch and listen when they practice and i cant wait for him to be a part of the family so to speak

Music zone is an amazing place, always keen to get involved in local and wider community events. The service it offers fills a massive gap of provision for young people interested in music. When performing everyone looks like they’re having a great time. One big family which includes people from various abilities, age and background.
The tutors are really supportive and music zone have been a very popular addition to many of my events.

MusicZone is such a fantastic charity. It offers a lifeline of music teaching to some vulnerable and needy children. They work very hard to make their talents accessible to all ranges of children.

Plymouth Music Zone is an amazing place which is open to everyone. They do so much to help and develop musical abilities of all. They are very supportive. motivational and bring happiness to families, and help to improve the quality of life for those who attend PMZ or who have PMZ go to them (e.g. schools). This is an amazing charity! There is a growing research base to support the use of music in improving the quality of life and communication skills of vulnerable groups. Plymouth Music Zone puts this knowledge into practice and the results are evident from the testimonies posted here.

Having done a work experience placement at Plymouth Music Zone, I can confidently say that they provide an excellent service to the community. They bring music into the lives of young and disadvantaged people as a means of helping them. They give young disadvantaged people a talent and a sense of purpose that is irreplaceable.
For many years, me and my band were of the many young people that Plymouth Music Zone has helped. I believe that the opportunities they give to young people to perform to others and to receive help, advice and education from experienced musicians form a positive climate in which dreams and aspirations are born, as well as boosting self-confidence and communication skills which will stay with those young people in whatever they go on to achieve.

Ask me what organisation i would vouch for and the answer would ne Plymouth Music Zone.

Plymouth music zone is awesome, I would easily choose them. In fact they are the kind of place that would provide services to all those other charities listed because that’s what they do and maybe they could use some of the money to do that so everyone benefits. Don’t make the mistake of thinking they’re so successful so they don’t need the funding, they have to work as hard as everyone else to keep going and they deserve support to keep up a hugely valuable service to the community.

PMZ offers amazing opportunities to young people in Plymouth – particularly the most disadvantaged. Talent is nutured, ideas are cherished and horizons are expanded. The staff team are passionate about what they do, which shines through in the projects that they deliver. A truly excellent organisation.

A brilliant organisation!!! Giving young people the opportunity to explore their talent, develop skills and learn about themselves as well as music! My nephew went along to PMZ a few years ago and he got so much out of it. I’ve never heard of anything like it – amazing!

The staff are so dedicated to the powerful philosophy that their enthusiasm means they can’t help but make a difference. As the incoming chair of Plymouth Music Form, plus former Sound Skills leadership course qualifier and general hanger-on of the Plymouth Music Zone, I’d like to say that they’re one of the hubs of dynamism in our city: a success story that keeps growing and growing. I think that as a participant of a PMZ choir, the work of PMZ makes a huge difference to people’s lives. Without it I definitely would not get round to singing much!

Whilst participating in PMZ choir-tonality, my confidence has grown so much as a performer and as a singer! It is lovely to meet new people as well as improving your ability in music! In fact every monday, it keeps my sanity! Love being here and always leave with a smile on my face x

This charity needs more support and financial help urgently. To come here and see what these gifted people give to these kids / small adults is truely moving . They really deserve more backing and facilities to help disadvantaged and disabled young people change their lives and find new interests / lifestyles with such great aspirations to better themselves.

PMZ has that ‘Heineken’ factor. Its a high-quality participatory learning environment for hundreds and hundreds of young people, its skill development, its career development, its employment potential and its FUN!!! The creative industries are the fastest growing industries in the SW, PMZ is at the cutting edge of growing new talent and potential that transforms into new jobs and new industries for our city and the region. PMZ is an amazing charity organisation that helps so many kids gain experiance, and self confidence. Personally, I started at PMZ getting lessons for the drums, and this was a great way of learning and it helped shape me into the player, and lover of music that I am today. Having been an avid fan, follower and promoter of music in the Plymouth Community, it never ceases to amaze me just how incredible PMZ is. The work they do is so varied, that the scope they have and oppertunities they have given is unmeasurable. From booking music leaders for local events, to working in conjunction with PMZ through Plymouth Music Collective at Rock Therapy nights, to seeing the journeys some of their own students have been on as individual musicians is a credit to the organisation and to the city. The staff members themselves are incredible people and a true credit to the music industry!

I have been volunteering at PMZ for five years and was a participant for several years before that. It is a great opportunity for young people to meet new people and learn new skills. It is not just learning about musicp but life as a whole, with participants learning social skills, team work, respect and confidence. It was particularly helpful for me in learning to talk to and interact with others.

Music Making a Difference…. Does what it says on the tin! There’s been a lot of money spent over the last 10 years on schemes and initiatives that haven’t really made much difference at all. PMZ is without doubt the exception! Value for money? Well I wonder how many millions of pounds have been saved. Hard to quantify, but think of all those young people who didn’t go on to be young offenders, or those who didn’t end up being funded through expensive NHS treatment for addiciation and mental health related issues. These are a just a few examples…. It’s more than just learning to sing or learning an instrument (worthwhile pursuits in themselves). As you can see by the amazing comments left here by young people themselves. This organisation transforms lives and long may it continue….!

Day in day out this organisation delivers a whopping programme of work to hundreds of people who lack opportunity. PMZ has continued to impress, through ongoing work and leadership with the establishment of the WIRED consortium and delivery of music that makes a difference across the city, to the 45 mins on a Saturday morning where my daughter is learning to love playing her guitar (from a starting point of practising being a chore, it has become a wonderful thing to do!)
PMZ never fail to deliver the goods.
