Operation Emotion is a community group set up by the survivors of one of Britain’s most prolific paedophiles. Following their ordeal and the subsequent trial, they felt that there was a huge lack of support for male survivors of rape and sexual abuse. They were determined to ensure that future survivors were not treated as they were.
They provide specialist therapy for men who have experienced abuse and are currently the only survivor led and run support group for male survivors of sexual abuse in Devon. Sadly there will always be a need for these types of services in the UK.
They currently run a weekly support group which is by invite only due to the nature of who they can and cannot work with, but they also run a weekly drop in which allows anybody to turn up and they hope that if needed they can refer these people to other services. Due to the nature of what has happened to the members of Operation Emotion, they are in a unique position of being able to offer help and advice to people who need it.
As a small group Operation Emotion continually needs funds, you can help to make a difference now:
- £150 to enable a survivor of child abuse to participate in a 12 week support group course
- £500 to fund emergency counselling for one person
- £800 to develop a brand and promotional material
- £1,000 to develop, maintain and manage their web presence
- £1,200 run a 12 week support group course for 8 survivors of child abuse (4 of these are run a year)
- £2,500 to run drop in sessions for a year
